Welcome to The Studio Journal

Chris Meredith Studios

I’ve never been very good at staying in one creative lane.

Over the years, I’ve written poetry, created music, designed characters, made films, experimented with digital art and, more recently, developed my Video Paintings and Colour Thought work.

This website brings those different strands together.

I wanted somewhere that could show the work itself, but also the ideas, memories and stories behind it. Sometimes an image begins with a colour. Sometimes a few words become a poem. Sometimes an old memory suddenly suggests a song. And occasionally an idea appears that I have absolutely no idea what to do with — which is usually when things get interesting.

The Studio Journal is where I’ll share some of that journey.

I won’t be posting every day, and I’m not intending this to become a conventional blog. I’d rather write when I have something worth saying or something new to show.

I’ll talk about new work, inspirations, poetry, music, creative experiments and some of the stories behind the pieces on this site. From time to time, I’ll also mention work that I’ve made available as prints or other items, for anyone who would like to take a little piece of the studio home.

For me, creativity has never really been about sticking to one medium.

It’s about having an idea — and seeing where it takes you.

So, welcome to the Studio Journal.

Chris
