I have spent much of my life creating things — sometimes with words, sometimes with music, sometimes with images, and sometimes simply by following an idea to see where it takes me.
My creative journey began with writing. Poetry, lyrics and storytelling have been a constant thread through my work, developing over many years into a substantial collection of poems and songs. For eleven years I also ran therapeutic poetry sessions with senior citizens, using words not simply as something to read, but as a way of unlocking memories, encouraging conversation and bringing people together.
Music became another important part of my creative life. I have written original songs and lyrics for many years and recorded a collection of work, including songs created during the isolation of the Covid years. For me, music and words have always belonged together — different ways of expressing an idea, a feeling or a moment.
I have also explored illustration, characters, greeting cards, animation and moving images, creating a variety of imaginative projects along the way. Some were playful, some experimental and some deliberately unconventional. They taught me something important: I am happiest when I am exploring an idea rather than staying inside one particular creative discipline.
That exploration has now led me to Colour Thought — a new form of digital art built around colour, movement, atmosphere, imagination and emotion. It has become the visual language of my current work and the foundation of Chris Meredith Studios.
I don’t see creativity as something that belongs to one particular medium or age. It is a way of looking at the world.
They are different disciplines, but they come from the same place — curiosity, imagination and the desire to create something that was not there before.
And I am still exploring.
